Author: All of my life I have been the person that has wanted to do something great, but never gets round to it. I am always the person saying that I am going to do the London marathon – next year! I always have the best intentions but then life just gets in the way! I always wanted to do something for charity, and every time the event comes round, and I haven’t done what I set out to do I end up feeling guilty about it, yet the same thing seems to happen to me all over again!
Recently I have been determined to put this type of behaviour behind me, and the only way to do this is to do something truly outstanding. I spent a good couple of weeks weighing up the various different things I could do for charity – a bungee jump, a parachute dive, or indeed a marathon but in the end, I decided that none of these things were enough for me. I wanted to do something that would truly challenge me, something that most people wouldn’t even consider doing, so that I would have vto force myself to be stronger than I had ever been before.
After the two weeks an idea hit me. I would walk the walk the great wall of China on my own! I started to a bit of research, and although it was a great undertaking, I decided that I would do it. There was only one way that I would be able to make myself do it, so I found and booked some cheap flights to China there and then.
I still don’t know how hard it is going to be, but I have been on full training now for three months. I haven’t missed a beat trying to raise cash for my cause, and I am thrilled that I am finally doing something for a good cause.
